The next gig is:
Friday July 10th, 2009 at
The Freight and Salvage 1111 Addison St. Berkeley, CA 94702.
This is an
Alexis Harte gig, meaning I'm doing the backing singer thing with his music (which is fun, inventive, and extrememly well-written) and his band, in support of his latest record
Big Red Sun.
This is an all ages show so bring the whole family out to celebrate with us.
Next Friday night June 26th, I'll be at
Cafe DuNord for the
Pebble Theory CD Release party for their new collection of originals
"Something Better"
Personally, I really dig this record - groovin' alt. rock with great changes and melodic movements. I got to drop some vocals on one of the songs on this record and I'll get to accompany the band vocally on a couple of numbers at the party.
So come for the new tunes, or to see how Damond Moodie does Pebble Theory, or just to bask in the ambiance of The Du Nord.
The next gig is:
Saturday June 20th, 2009 at
Nomad Cafe 6500 Shattuck Ave. Oakland 94609.
I'm playing a solo set and sharing the bill with the eclectic and groovy
Lisa Graciano - it's gonna be a fun night out.
Tomorrow (6/18) I'm playing as a part of the "Uptown Unveiled" Street Busker Team. From 6 - 10PM, I'll be stationed in front of the new, hip, Japanese Restaurant Ozumo near the corner of Broadway and W. Grand in downtown Oakland.
If you are strolling around, breeze on through, if you are planted in front of the TV, dig out, get out, and come down to see all of the amazing festivities in Oakland!
The next gig is:
Saturday April 11th, 2009 at
L'Amyx Tea Bar- 3437 Lakeshore Ave. Oakland 94610.
I shall play solo and I shall rock!
Late last year a good friend of mine, guitarist Tim Pryde (
Pebble Theory, Monte Cristo), asked me to write lyrics for an idea that he had. A gift of song for new parents in and around his circle of friends.
We got together one day at
Faultline Studio in San Francisco and recorded, mixed, and mastered it in a day. We even had time during lunch to buy a piece of percussion from a drum shop around the corner and track that as well.
We're pretty happy with how it turned out, and now I have the pleasure of sharing this song with all of you. So click the link to my myspace page and have a listen to
"Stay With Me (a lullaby)".
The next gig is: Saturday April 4th, 2009 at Cafe DuNord - 2170 Market St., San Francisco, California 94114.
This is Alexis Harte's CD Release party and I am singing some back-up vocals with his band. It is an honor, as his new record
Big Red Sun (on which I got to sing backing vocals for the song "Pot of Rainbows") is a wonderfully crafted and thoughtful example of the singer-songwriter doing what we do!

Thursday Aug. 2nd 2007 at La Pena in Berekely, The first public screening of "2nd Verse - the rebirth of poetry"
Because a couple of my songs are featured in the movie, I get to perform a couple of songs at the beginning of the screening, but the night is all about the movie. It is a documentary which shows the power of poetry through the Slam Poetry Medium. I've seen it twice now and I can emphatically recommend it. The highlight for me is at the very end of the Grand Slam Championship - goosebumps and neck hairs!
Anyway you should come - 8pm, $5 - 10 sliding scale, all ages.
La Pena is located at 3105 Shattuck Ave. There will also be performances by two of the film's featured poets and a question and answer period with the director Carl Brown.
Wine Tasting, Chocolates, and Acoustic Music
Sunday July 15th, night wine tasting at The Rockit Room in San Francisco - oh yeah and some really beautiful acoustic music.
For $5, you get to taste 3 wines, there will also be a variety of chocolates and other delicacies, and really rich, moving acoustic sets by Nya Jade, Isul Kim , and Rich Hardin, as well as yours truly.
It'll be earlier than normal gigs, around 7pm, so you can hear all the sets and get your sip on, with enough time to get your beauty rest for Monday morning.
I shot my first music video!"Shine On" was filmed and directed by Carl Brown of
Corduroy Media, in 8 different locations around the Bay Area (Oakland, Treasure Island, and San Francisco), and while there is no timetable for a mixed and edited version to be available, it was a truly wonderful experience to paint a song of mine visually. Be on the lookout for a sneak peak...
Local Film maker Carl Brown of
Corduroy Media has included two of my songs from Daydreamer in his recent film about Slam Poetry called
2nd Verse - the rebirth of poetry. The songs that he selected were "Blessed" (over the opening credits) and "Shine On" (near the end).
The film is a captivating showcase of the raw emotion and power that the creation of poetry is capable of, following four principal characters, who compete in the Slam Competition in San Francisco. There will be Bay Area screenings oming up and I urge you to
SEE THIS FILM!
My 35th Birthday gig, held at
The Hotel Utah Saloon in San Francisco, I'll be sharing the stage with
Natalia Zukerman and
Heather Combs, both of whom simply ROCK!
We start at 9PM so come get over the hump of the week by listening to great music and telling me how young I still look...
The Envisioning Peace Concert! was be held
Saturday March 24th at Fruitvale Presbyterian Church 2735 MacArthur Blvd. @ Coolidge Ave. in Oakland 94602
This great reason to get together is based on the work of Molly Kenefick, a Dimond District resident, who organized a group of district residents to schedule a Peace Vigil on the 1st of every month to spend an hour with neighbors, light candles and hold signs that express the hope for Peace in Oakland & the World.
After meeting for 2 years they decided it was time to organize an evening of modeling peace through songs and spoken words. Local school groups and Bay Area Musicans, including Damond Moodie (that's me) and Apple Pie Hopes will help to plant a seed of hope and love to inspire others to model peace in their community.

I am starting up my monthly
Bread & Roses concert commitments in February. These are some of the best audiences I ever play in front of and hopefully performances that I give.
If you are a talented musician looking for an opportunity to volunteer your art, this is one organization that you should check out.

I recently was invited be interviewed and perform acoustically on the radio in Oakland! On Saturday January 27th I visited
Culture Shock News Radio FM 97.7 with host Ian Moore and got to perform 3 songs and share a bit about myself.
Look for the recording to make it's way to the site very soon!
The first gig of 2007: Saturday January 20th at The Nomad Cafe in Berkeley.

I'm not sure who I'll be playing with, but we'll be sharing solo acoustic sets from 7 - 9pm, and I'll have a few new songs to offer.

The Summer Solstice Party at
The Shattuck Down Low on
Friday June 23rd was off the hinges!
Chocolate O'Brian Rocked out and got the party off its bottom.
Then
MC Tyrone spit a few cuts that had the crowd pumpin' their fists. Next
Dynamic sucked the crowd in with organic, hip-hop soul flavored songs, masterfully performed by the band and beautifully sung by lead vocalist Kimiko Joy.
Then me and th band knocked 'em down with a funky, frenetic set that came from the soul. Finally
Hyim and the Fat Foakland Orchestra blew the doors off with an electric, hyper set featuring a scalding 3 piece percussion section, A Reggaeton MC, furious instrumental solos and jams, and Hyim standing out front, leading the crowd.
All this great music and we raised some dollars to benefit the musical education of the kids who attend the afterschool program at
Coronado Elementary in Richmond.
Hello Summertime!
On Saturday June 24th, I was asked to perform solo acoustic at the
Grand opening of the Farmer Joe's, full service grocery store in the Dimond District in Oakland.
The turn out was great, the weather was fab, and now we in the Fruitvale/MacArthur area have a kick ass grocery store. This is big news, (if you live in the area you know what I'm talking about) and I encourage anyone who can, to check out this new all organic, locally owned business.
I am officially a Bread & Roses artist! Bread & Roses is an organization that organizes quality volunteer performances for facilities (i.e. drug & alcohol rehab, homeless shelters) that cater to individuals who can't get out to see music, comedy, and other entertainment.
I am committed to doing at least one solo acoustic performance a month in an effort to use my music talents for true healing and outreach for the Bay Area community in need.
Daydreamer continues to be critically lauded - "Someone needs to start a big record label and get Moodie's work to the masses..." ~
Jamie Anderson / Minor 7th.com
"The spare, almost 'demo' sound of Damond Moodie's newest record Daydreamer is a quiet statement of strength." ~
Todd Beemis / Indie-Music.com

On Wed. March 22nd, I took part in a podcast for
Tower Records via Towerpod.com.
The show is called "Belly of the Bay" and it's trying to spotlight bands in the Greater Bay Area that may or may not be getting all of the hype that they deserve.
One of my guitarists, Brian Hill, accompanied me. We shared the time with Ruben, Kenny, and Phil from the San Francisco band MOVE.
Our hostess, Misha, did a great job asking questions that highlited connections between our two groups, while still allowing us to promote our music and tell our stories.
It was actually a pleasure.
The podcast can be listened to and/or dowloaded here.
What a great party! The Release was a wicked success, despite a freak monsoon-like storm and it being a weeknight, there were a gang of folk in the house. We danced, we sang, we cleaned out the sushi tray in under four minutes! Listen to the new CD and tell your peoples about it. Wear your new Damond Moodie t-shirts with pride.
Read your emails and come out to the next gig...you never know what new songs we may have or who will be a guest on the stage.
